Initially this solution offering will be available running on vSphere with Hyper-V following later, ultimately following a similar architecture to what I did in the Server 2012 RDS solution. The solution can be configured in either 2 or 4 M620 blades, Shared Tier 1 (cluster in a box), with 15 or 25 local 2.5” SAS disks. 10 x 15K SAS disks are assigned to 2 blades for Tier 1 or 20 disks for 4 blades. Tier 2 is handled via 5 x 900GB 10K SAS. A high-performance shared PERC is behind the scenes accelerating IO and enabling all disk volumes to be shared amongst all hosts.
Targeted sizing for this solution is 250-500 XenDesktop (MCS) users with HA options available for networking. Since all blades will be clustered, all VDI sessions and mgmt components will float across all blades to provide redundancy. The internal 8-port 1Gb switch can connect up to existing infrastructure or a Force10 switch can be added ToR. Otherwise there is nothing externally required for the VRTX VDI solution, other than the end user connection device. We of course recommend Dell Wyse Cloud Clients to suit those needs.
For the price point this one is tough to beat. Everything you need for up to 500 users in a single box! Pretty cool.
