How To Enable Dark Mode On Windows And Mac

What is dark mode on windows?

Dark Mode is a setting that turns your bright white screen a little darker. This means most of your Windows apps and features will have white text against a black or grey background. This makes it a lot easier to read and is said to help with concentration.

These days it's nearly impossible to escape screens. We stare at laptops for work, TVs during our binge sessions, and smartphone displays every moment in between.

This is bad for our health for a number of reasons—blue light keeps us up at night, and displays can cause eye strain, among other things—but going off the grid is unrealistic. For now, enabling dark mode can make screen time easier on the eyes.

Windows 7,8 and 8.1 and the later versions have a rather underrated feature — called the Magnifier. This feature was initially designed for those who are visually impaired. However, if you use it as we recommend, then it may help prevent loss of vision.

The Magnifier tool gives you the colour inversion option, which also lets you set the dark mode. Let us now figure out how you can do this.

To start using the Magnifier, click on the ‘Start’ button. Then, type ‘Magnifier’ in the search bar and then click on it.

By default, the zoom level is +250%. To zoom out, just click on the minus (-) button until you’ve reached 100%.

After that, click on the settings button or the gear button, and tick the checkbox next to ‘Turn on color inversion’ option and click OK and you are done.

If you have an updated Windows 10 or 11 version in your PC, then enabling the dark mode becomes as easy as toggling a button.

    To do this-

To enable dark mode, navigate to Settings > Personalization > Colours, then open the drop-down menu for "Choose your colour" and pick Dark. Dark (and Light) mode change the look of the Windows Start menu and built-in apps.
