If you have not logged into your Facebook account in a while, there’s a good chance you have forgotten it already. In today’s digital age, where we have dozens of online accounts, it’s difficult to remember passwords for all accounts.
If you can’t remember your account’s password, you can
easily reset it by hitting the “Forgotten password?” option on the Facebook app
or website. That isn’t very pleasant for many as the user must verify their
Facebook account to get a new password.
But what if I tell you there’s a way to see your Facebook
password without changing it? Yes, you heard it right. You can see the current
password of your Facebook account, but only if it is saved on your device.
Due to privacy and security concerns, Facebook does not
allow users to view their current passwords. However, Android, iOS, and
desktops have a password manager for storing all your passwords so that you do
not have to remember them all the time. According to security experts, you
should never use the same password twice. This is where the actual use of
password manager comes into play.
Further in this article, we’ll tell you how to see your
Facebook password without changing it using the password manager.
How to See Your Facebook Password Without Changing It?
You can head to the password manager on your device and
check if your Facebook password is stored there.
Password manager is available for both iPhones and Android.
All popular browsers, including Google Chrome, Firefox, and Edge also have a
password manager.
How to See Your Facebook Password on Android
Step 1: Open the Google App
The password manager on your Android smartphone can be
accessed via the Google app.
While staying on the home screen, swipe up to open the app
drawer. Find the Google app and tap on it.
If you are a Samsung or Google user, swipe left from the
home screen to open Google Discover and move on to the next step.
Step 2: Go to Your Google Account
Once you have opened the Google app or Google Discover, tap
on your profile icon in the top-right corner and click Google Account. It
should be located right below your email address.
You will be taken to your Google profile as soon as you tap
on Google Account.
Step 3: Access Your Saved Passwords
From the Google Account page, go to the Security tab.
Scroll down the page until you see the Password option. Tap
on it.
Once you tap on Password, you must verify the account by
entering the password.
Enter your Google account password, and you’ll see all saved
passwords on the next screen.
Step 4: Find Your Facebook Password
The final step is to scroll through the list of all saved
passwords on your Google account and check if there’s a password for your
Facebook account.
If you can’t find your Facebook password in the Google
Password Manager, you have not saved it.
When you create an account on the Facebook app or website,
your device asks you to save the password. If you select “Never”, the password
won’t be saved to your Google account.
How to See Your Facebook Password on iPhone
iPhones also have a password manager. You can use it to see
your Facebook password (if you’ve saved it before).
Step 1: Go to the Settings App
The first step is to open the Settings app. You should find
the Settings on your home screen or search for “Settings” after swiping down
from the top of your iPhone screen.
Tap on the Settings icon to reveal its options.
Step 2: See Your Saved Passwords
On the Settings page, find the Passwords option and tap on
it. It should be sitting below the Wallet & Apple Pay option.
If you enabled Touch ID, scan your thumb to unlock the
password manager. Or, enter your passcode to verify that you own this device.
You should see all your saved passwords.
Step 3: Find Your Facebook Account Password
After you can access all your saved passwords, find
“facebook.com” in the list.
To make the process quicker, scroll down to the “F” alphabet
or search for “Facebook” using the search bar at the top.
You should see “facebook.com” in the password list if you
have previously saved your Facebook account details. Tapping on it will reveal
your Facebook username and password.
To copy your Facebook password, click on the password and
select “Copy”.
How to See Your Facebook Password on Windows
Microsoft hasn’t introduced the password manager for
Windows, but the good thing is that popular browsers have had this feature for
years. Browsers such as Google Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, Opera, and
Safari already have a built-in password manager.
I will talk you through the steps to see your Facebook
password on Google Chrome. The steps are pretty much the same for other
browsers.
Step 1: Launch Google
Chrome on Your PC
The first step is to launch Google Chrome on your computer.
You can tap the Google Chrome icon in the taskbar or search for it in the
search box at the bottom and press the Enter button to launch it.
Step 2: Access Your Saved Passwords
In Google Chrome, tap on your profile icon in the upper-right
corner and click the passwords icon to access the password manager.
You will see all your saved passwords on the screen.
Go through the list and find “Facebook” in the site column.
To make the process easier, make use of the search function. Simply type
“Facebook” to see your saved Facebook password.
Tap on your Facebook username or password. Now, you must
verify yourself by entering the Windows password (the one you use to unlock
your computer).
To view your Facebook password, tap the eye icon next to
Password. Or, you can click the copy icon to copy your Facebook password.
Final Thoughts
If you have forgotten your Facebook password, there’s a way
to recover it without having to go through the hassle of resetting it. That’s
impossible via the Facebook app or its website as it compromises Facebook
security.
